Cricut Expression 2, Anniversary Edition

I recently learned that Provocraft’s Cricut Expression got a makeover for their 5th Anniversary! It has a new sleek look that takes all the things you love about Cricut Expression and is jammed packed it with new features you didn’t know you needed!

  • Large LCD Touchscreen – Makes working on projects much easier, faster, and more fun!
  • No keypad. No overlays. – I always found these cumbersome, especially when I’m cutting out items from multiple cartridges. Taking them off, and putting another one on, and then getting confused when the keypad and cartridge doesn’t match. And whether I hit shift or no shift to get the pattern I want. I love that they eliminated this in the new version!
  • Button Controls on LCD – all previous button controls can now be set all in the LCD, including size, paper load, etc.
  • Mat Preview – this let’s your organize your shapes and designs before cutting! This is fabulous because you can see how much paper is left over and if you could squeeze another pattern in (without the measuring math!)
  • Material Settings – This option on the LCD lets you organize previous projects and settings so you can use them over and over again.
  • Cutting Area Light – so they knew most of us crafters start working really late at night. This option is fabulous so you can see the cuts.
  • Works with all Cricut Cartridges, including Cricut Imagine Art Cartridges – Although it doesn’t have a printer like the Cricut Imagine, you can still use the Image Cartridges to do all the cutting. Fabulous if you own a variety of cartridges!
  • Pre-installed Content – This Anniversary edition comes with it’s own limited-edition content. More goodies!
  • Compatible with Gypsy and Cricut Craft Room – always great to hear that it’s backwards compatible!
  • Sleeker and more Portable Design – smaller, but has the power to cut big projects (up to 12×24) just like the previous version!
  • Colored and Decorated – Will come in a variety of colors so you can pick the machine that’s unique to your style!

Although I love all of these new features, especially no need for the keypad, I can’t quite justify purchasing another Cricut machine… can I? 😉

The Cricut Expression 2, Anniversary Edition debuted at this year’s CHA 2011 Winter Convention. Price and release date are still unknown.

Cricut Expression is currently going for $225 on Amazon. I would imagine the new version be somewhere around $300-$400 range since they probably don’t want to compete with the Cricut Imagine!
