Card Project: Crabby Card
I taught a craft class at lunch and this is the card everyone made! We had f projects to complete within an hour and half, so I wanted to make something simple yet cute at the same time.
It’s summer time, so I had the beach on my mind. Why not make a card starring a crab?! I usually work with pastel colors, so I wanted to try something different this time. I’m quite happy with all the vivid colors, and it’s so easy to make.
Time: 15 Minutes
What you need:
- Create-a-Critter Cricut Cartridge
- Cardstock — orange, red, black, and white
- Colorful ribbon
- Corner Punch
I usually like to make cards from an 8.5″x11″ cardstock. Take an orange cardstock and cut it in half so you can two pieces that are 8.5″x5.5. Now fold one of the halves to create an 4.25″x5.5″ card.
Now cut a white piece of cardstock to be slightly smaller than that, 4″ by 5″ is good. Corner punch this piece.
Take your ribbon and wrap it around the white piece of cardstock. Adhere the ribbon on the back of the cardstock with tape. When you’re doing, adhere this piece to the orange card.
With your Cricut machine, cut out a 2″ crab using the Create-a-Critter cartridge. This will require a shadow cut on black and the character cut on red. For the cheeks, I just used a hole punch to punch out the circles on orange cardstock. The orange ties the card together. Adhere the pieces for the crab together.
Add some foam tape in the back of the crab and adhere it to the card. It’s as simple as that!
I asked a few friends for fun sayings for the card. Here were some of my favorites.
“Oh Crab! I forgot your birthday!” -Sarah Ly
“And a pinch to grown an inch!” -Vicki Austin
“Have a Snappy Birthday!” -Kat Lee
And this card has been kid-tested. My little niece loved it so much, she only wanted to play with the crab so she pulled it off the card. lol If you love the card, you might want to make a backup one to keep. haha
